Rice Military is like family to me. It’s where we bought our first and second home, where both of our kids were born and my husband opened his first and second restaurant.
Rice Military “opens its doors” to you like family and friends do when you are visiting their house for the first time. It’s so welcoming and friendly that you don’t feel the need to see anything else.
Memorial Park is just a few blocks away. This park is not only considered Houston’s lungs, but offers entertainment for the whole family. A gym, pool, bike trails, running trails, tennis courts, golf, and even swings for the little ones.
The neighborhood has easy access to I-10, The Galleria, downtown, and a favorite amongst Houstonians, the Washington Corridor. Washington Ave has many restaurants and a vibrant night life scene.
30 years ago you could buy a 5,000 SF lot for $5,000. Today, this same lot is no less than $300k. Houses are mainly 3 stories as builders figured out how to maximize the land and since so many young professionals moved to the area, there wasn’t a big demand for big yards. Residents have large indoor spaces with small patios, but who needs a yard when you have Memorial Park and the Washington Corridor close by!!!
You might think I’m biased… and you are probably right, but I’m sure that if you put on your tennis shoes and take a walk… you will also get that same feeling of familiarity. There is something about the neighborhood that makes everyone want to stay for more. Just like we did.
